Ever been to Tioga, Texas? Likelihood is no but if you get that way–north of Denton and in the Lake Ray Roberts area off FM 377, stop in at Clark’s Outpost. Famous for its barbecue, I found the chicken fried steak, fork-meltingly tender, the fried corn on the cob (and yes, I mean fried–this is TX ya’ll) fantastic, and the chocolate meringue pie skyscraper high.
Don’t blink because you may drive right past Clark’s. It’s a whole-in-the wall sort of place. Just look for the bright yellow sign.
