I came across this article this morning and this is actually a concept I’ve thought at length about because it’s one of those myths–great writers (artists, creative types) have had to suffer. Hmmm. Where does that leave the rest of us who have had mostly normal lives? Somehow lacking in creativity because we weren’t beaten enough? Left to rot in closets? I’m going to weigh in on this and say that since there’s been no quasi-experimental study done on this that it sits in the realm of MYTH. People like this idea because it gives them an excuse to NOT be creative.
