That’s what an Atlanta family recently decided to do–
Well, let’s just say that they started out with way more than most–a 6,000 square foot mansion–but decided that they didn’t need all that space or stuff. So they sold the mansion, moved into a normal-sized house AND gave the one million dollars they saved to a New York-based charity that helps the poor in Ghana.
And all this on the insistence of their 14 year old daughter. Now that’s an awesome teenager.
I’m trying to down-size our family but not so that I can necessarily give more to charity but rather so I can work fewer hours. Maybe that will end up meaning more time giving–not sure yet–but it certainly will mean that I can give more to my family.
