Going to Graceland

Our first stop on the road trip was Emma’s idea:  Graceland.  Not sure why. She’s not a big fan of Elvis but I guess in all our talk of “historic” sites to see, she figured that Elvis’s house would fit in.  Go figure.

That’s me with the blonde hair and blue shirt. We queued up early on a sultry Memphis day, which was just as well because the line was huge after we left.

And the opinion?  Well, I think she was expecting something more like that TV show Cribs.  We kept reminding her that this was the “cribs of the ’70s.”  But not having lived through that era, she didn’t really get it.  I think she was disappointed over all.

The shag carpet on the ceiling in the jungle room really made a statement, though.  Emma asked how they vacuumed it.  Good question, I think.  😉

Been to Graceland?  What did you think?  The actual house isn’t as good or moving as Paul Simon’s Graceland, for sure.
